Isn’t Guedioura the panacea when quality goes begging in key areas for Watford Football Club?

The man pictured above in the golden Nike undershirt (can’t find any of these shirts on Nike’s website) was gold for Watford last season. In midfield he was lively, creative, skilled and tireless, with the kind of pace and work rate that would make any football manager stand up and cheer.

So why hasn’t Adlene Guedioura played first-team football at a Premier League club this season?  And why on earth haven’t Watford brought him back to Vicarage Road?

Granted, Guedioura is currently at Crystal Palace but isn’t getting a sniff in their first team. There’s no secret of the Algerian national’s love for Watford, and in two loan spells at Vicarage Road last season he was nothing short of outstanding.

But last season was last season.

And this season there’s a new sheriff at Vicarage Road.
